Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence have spent the last two decades dominating conversations in financial services. As a result, nearly 90% of financial functions employ at least one AI-enabled technology to help reduce risk, improve decision making, or accelerate innovation — but to further increase uptake and expand usage, the issue of data security needs to be addressed. 

Critical infrastructure sectors, including energy, water, gas, and grid operations, are rapidly adopting artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve resilience, optimize operations, predictive maintenance, grid balancing, and automated security, but adoption is outpacing security controls creating high consequence risks.

Retailers are well suited to benefit from AI innovation which can help the sector overcome hurdles to profitability, improve operations and enhance the customer experience. For this reason heavy investment has gone into the sector. However, little attention and investment has gone into balancing AI innovation in retail with adequate data security and privacy despite this being a primary concern.
